Bio Robot Refrigerator
Electrolux Design Lab holds annual competitions for creating home appliances with a fresh theme each year. ‘The 2nd Space Age’ was the theme announced by Electrolux for 2010 in which participants were to give a new design to present household appliances that would be used in 2050 which would not only save on space but would also be energy efficient. Yuriy Dmitriev, a student from Russia came out with the concept of the Bio Robot Refrigerator in which luminescence is used to cool the biopolymer gel and thus keep the food cold.
The biopolymer gel which is non-sticky and the food items are inserted into this gel which creates separate pods in the process of encapsulating the food items. The design of this refrigerator looks very surreal and contains no drawers or doors and the robot cools all the individual food items according to the optimal temperature. It is one single piece of green gel that is contained in a frame and is four times smaller than the size of a regular fridge.
IT dosent have any moving parts and also it dosn't need any type of coolant.
It is also far better in shape and size.
The main principle of the gel on which it works is-
